A Collaborative Podcast Project with Urban Indian Health Institute & Feed Seven Generations

The Live with the Seasons podcast epitomized Tahoma Peak Solutions’ commitment to fostering Native communities and health through an innovative project that united voices to celebrate Indigenous stories of the seasons.

In collaboration with the Urban Indian Health Institute and Feed Seven Generations, Live with the Seasons was hosted by Tahoma Peak Solutions’ Valerie Segrest and Elise Krohn, who are both long-time colleagues and renowned advocates for Indigenous wisdom and community health. In each episode, Valerie and Elise interviewed wisdom keepers who offered insights into how Native peoples can physically and spiritually attune to seasonal changes. They delved into how shifts in nature inform daily practices and how to grow along with the seasons—offering perspectives on incorporating plants into seasonal transitions and exploring the remarkable connections Native peoples share with the natural world. Live with the Seasons wasn’t just about surviving the changes, but thriving through them with the guidance of Indigenous traditions and community health practices.

The Live with the Seasons podcast was born out of necessity and creativity. Initially conceived as in-person health interventions supported by the Seattle Indian Health Board and the Urban Indian Health Institute, the COVID-19 pandemic required Tahoma Peak Solutions to pivot and revise the project’s initial approach. The initiative’s move to a podcast format ultimately reached and resonated with Native audiences in an innovative and engaging way. The podcast lives on as an educational resource to share and celebrate Native peoples’ wisdom of the seasons.
